Beckhoff at SMM 2010
Beckhoff is presenting its automation components at SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine technology), the leading trade fair for the shipbuilding industry, in Hall B6, Booth 487, from 7 to 10 September 2010. Beckhoff offers controllers for shipbuilding ranging from PC controllers and Embedded PCs to the small controller with integrated interface to the I/O level. The Beckhoff Bus Terminal system enables the connection of the sensor/actuator level. Over 400 different Bus Terminals cover the complete range of signal types. Bus Couplers are available for all relevant bus systems for the open and bus-neutral I/O system: from Ethernet and EtherCAT to PROFIBUS. Components for the Ethernet periphery as well as industrial displays and operating panels round off the range of offers.

TwinCAT automation software integrates PLC, measurement technology and also Condition Monitoring functions and enables connection to the higher-level system via communication standards such as Ethernet and OPC.

“High Density” Bus Terminals
The new Bus Terminal generation with increased packing density offers 16 digital connection points in the housing of a
12 mm electronic terminal block.

Flexible signal mix
The Beckhoff I/O system offers Bus
Terminals for all signal types: from
standard digital/analog I/Os up to power measurement.
Embedded PCs
Beckhoff Embedded PCs are modularly expandable Industrial PCs that can be used in shipbuilding as central or local controllers. The Embedded PC CX5000 is designed for fanless operation and is extremely small with an Intel® Atom™ CPU. Embedded PC
Compact IPC wonders for control cabinets
The Industrial PCs from the C69xx series are extremely compact and significantly reduce space requirements. The C6915 with Intel® Atom™ processor is particularly energy-efficient due to the low processor power dissipation. Industrial PC
Control Panels for the control room or ship’s cabin
Beckhoff Control Panels, which are designed for industrial use, can be used flexibly in shipbuilding as operating and display elements: on cruise ships, e.g. for the room operation of a cabin, or in the control room or engine room as a robust operating panel.
