03rd August 2009
Beckhoff at Fachpack: Hall 9, Booth 240
PC Control increases the profitability and improves the ecobalance of packaging machines

Beckhoff will be presenting its solutions for the packaging industry as well as numerous new products for the first time at Fachpack, which takes place from 29 September to 1 October 2009 in Nuremberg, Germany. Alongside new Industrial PC series and the expansion of the AX5000 Servo Drive series up to 120 kW, “Scientific Automation” forms a further main topic at the trade fair booth.

The power of PC-based control technology offers sufficient capacity to integrate further functions beyond standard tasks. Scientific Automation complements the conventional areas of control technology such as PLC, Motion Control and control technology, for example, with precise and fast measurement technology and the associated engineering algorithms. Beckhoff will be presenting further Scientific Automation solutions at Fachpack: various EtherCAT I/O terminals expand the Beckhoff system with high-precision measurement technology and Condition Monitoring. With “TwinCAT Kinematic Transformation” software, robotics also becomes an integral part of PC-based control.

High-speed control technology and economy in unison

Under the motto “sustainable production and packaging”, energy-efficiency is one of the main topics at Fachpack. The XFC technology from Beckhoff allows an improvement in the speed of reaction of a machine controller by a factor of 10. XFC offers an optimised control and communication architecture on the basis of PC-based control technology and the fast EtherCAT real-time Ethernet fieldbus system. This leads to better control quality and faster sequences on the machine, so that the material, energy and production efficiency is significantly optimised. The use of XFC technology increases the profitability of production while at the same time improving the ecobalance.

Open automation solutions for the packaging industry

Using PC Control from Beckhoff, the entire process chain of individual packaging machines as well as complete packaging lines can be controlled and monitored: filling, forming, sealing, labelling, collecting, re-packaging and palletising. All process steps can be automated with a uniform hardware and software platform: high-performance IPCs or compact Embedded PCs, electronic I/O terminals, universally employable Servo Drive equipment, high-speed fieldbus systems and TwinCAT automation software offer the basis for flexible, scalable control technology from Beckhoff.
